Rookies

To be a rookie in any league or sport is hard espiecally being highly touted.Having to live up to a ton of hype.Today I will talk about some rookies entering the q this season and the assets they bring to their teams.

Simon Despres-Being the first overall pick in any draft aint easy being talked about as a savior of a team.Despres will see limited icetime in saint john with studs like Grant,Stitch,and Sauve.But give Despres time he will develope into an elite defenseman in the q.

Steve Anthony-For 80 percent of last season he was projected to go number 1 overall in the q draft,but due to threats of going to the ncaa made him drop and rumors of attitude problems.At the draft Anthony slipped to number 10 and was taken by Saint John after long talks between anthony and the dogs he will come to the q.Anthony will be the q's next big superstar.

Timo Pielmeier-Has to be the most hyped rookie this year.A german netminder Pielmeier has won the national junior title over there and has represented his country at the world juniors and the under 18's.He was picked in the 2007 chl import draft by St.John's a team with net troubles.When he was first picked he wasnt sure about comming over but after comming here for a visit and the urgeing of the san jose sharks his draft team he decided to come.

Robert Mayer-A swiss goalie mayer is expected to go in the first round in the 2008 nhl entry draft.He was represented his country at the world juniors and under 18's.Expected to be number 1 in saint john.

My sleeper pick for breakout rookie:Marek Benda while he may not be as good as Pavelec he can steal game and play great he is very acrobatic in goal.
