To be a rookie in any league or sport is hard espiecally being highly touted.Having to live up to a ton of hype.Today I will talk about some rookies entering the q this season and the assets they bring to their teams.
Simon Despres-Being the first overall pick in any draft aint easy being talked about as a savior of a team.Despres will see limited icetime in saint john with studs like Grant,Stitch,and Sauve.But give Despres time he will develope into an elite defenseman in the q.
Steve Anthony-For 80 percent of last season he was projected to go number 1 overall in the q draft,but due to threats of going to the ncaa made him drop and rumors of attitude problems.At the draft Anthony slipped to number 10 and was taken by Saint John after long talks between anthony and the dogs he will come to the q.Anthony will be the q's next big superstar.
Timo Pielmeier-Has to be the most hyped rookie this year.A german netminder Pielmeier has won the national junior title over there and has represented his country at the world juniors and the under 18's.He was picked in the 2007 chl import draft by St.John's a team with net troubles.When he was first picked he wasnt sure about comming over but after comming here for a visit and the urgeing of the san jose sharks his draft team he decided to come.
Robert Mayer-A swiss goalie mayer is expected to go in the first round in the 2008 nhl entry draft.He was represented his country at the world juniors and under 18's.Expected to be number 1 in saint john.
My sleeper pick for breakout rookie:Marek Benda while he may not be as good as Pavelec he can steal game and play great he is very acrobatic in goal.

Wearing the maple leaf
For kids growing up playing hockey representing canada is a dream no matter what tourny it is.For 7 qmjhl players this dream is realized as they will wear the red and white at the under 18 tournament.
Kevin Poulin-The best young goalie in the q right now could be a starter in his second year in the q.A big goalie that takes up alot of the goal and is very fast and agile.
Yann sauve-Could be a top 5 pick in the 2008 nhl entry draft.A big and fast d man with tons of upside.
Jordan caron-Not eligable til 2009 nhl draft is a good scorer with good hands.Was a suprise pick at 5th overall but no one is saying that now.
Peter Delmas-A goaltender his coming out party was when Johnathan bernier went down due to injury he was steller and showcased his talents.
Chris Doyle-The high scoreing Chris doyle should provide the team with an offensive punch.Doyle has soft hands and a great shot.
Kelsey Tessier-A steal for the remparts in the 3rd rd in the 2006 q draft has great skateing ability and a great scorer.
Phillipe Cornet-Former 2nd overall pick in the q draft in 2006.He struggled in his first q season but i expect alot of great things to come from him.
Personally looking at the roster canada has a great chance of winning and these 7 shal lead canada to gold.

August tradeing period
Hello I'm devilsfan24 a qmjhl fan.I love the q from the fans to the high scoreing.I will blog on everything from rumors to drafts to players of the week.For my first topic I will talk about the August tradeing period.
On August 1st began the second of three tradeing periods in the qmjhl unlike the christmas or the draft this one is very slow most teams wait until traning camp to make moves,but some teams started early one of those teams the gatineau olympiques.On the second day the piques aquired q journeyman Sebastian bernier from Drummondville.Bernier 20 has made stops with moncton,quebec,st.john's,chicoutimi and drummondville before joing the piques.Bernier has a little of offensive skills and can work the pp will help the piques.
The next day a pair of deals happend one involving the saint john sea dogs.The dogs made a splash aquireing Francis Charland from Victoriaville.This in my mind was a steal Charland is very talented with great offensive skills but injuries have lowerd his numbers but if healthy can help the dogs offensivly which they needed and this deal reunites Francis with his brother Kevan who was traded to the dogs at the christmas tradeing period.
On the same day the Rouyn Noranda Huskies made a move getting D man Brad Ouskun from Moncton.Ouskun a 19 year old should help eat a few minutes and be 4-5th dman.
